Dōjinshi (同人誌, often transliterated doujinshi) is the Japanese term for self-published works, usually magazines, Manga or novels. Dōjinshi are often the work of amateurs, though some professional artists participate as a way to publish material outside the regular industry.

Doujinshi as an amateur manga is most often created by newcomers of a young age, but it happens that professional authors publish individual works outside their professional activities, sometimes parodying their own works. Amateur manga is usually not sent to publishing companies for subsequent publication - its distribution is carried out at meetings of authors, by mail or at events devoted to anime and manga, for example, on the Comite. The groups of doujinshi authors in manga are usually called the English term circle (circle). Often such circles consist of only one person.
